Today [29 Shevat] is the Yartzeit of Ilan Ramon - Israeli Astronaut who died in 2003

Columbia Tragedy; Israeli Astronaut Perishes (2003)

On the morning of February 1, 2003, the Columbia Space Shuttle, returning from its STS-107 mission, was destroyed upon re-entry, 16 minutes before its scheduled landing. All its crew members perished, including Ilan Ramon, a combat pilot in the Israeli Air Force, who was the first Israeli astronaut. Question about the Pillar of Salt

Here's a question that I asked way back in Nov of 2005, and I never received an answer.

The Gemorah in Brachas 54B, about 30 lines from the top, says that on seeing the pillar of salt that Lot's wife turned into, one makes the Bracha "Baruch...Dayan Emes".

First question that I have is, why is this the Bracha that was chosen for Lot's wife? Don't we say this bracha when we hear bad tidings the first time? This bracha that was chosen is to b

Today - 23 Elul - is the 6th Anniversary of "9/11"

September 11, 2001...

...fell out on 23 Elul which is also todays Hebrew date.

There are so many stories of Hashgacha Protis (Divine Providence) that

Pirkei Avos - Correct Mishna Numbering?

This is a question that I asked about a year ago on the old forums, and I never received an answer. The question is as follows:

Why are there different versions of the ordering of the Mishnayos and what is the "correct" version?

Dear Sam,
Where did you see my dvar Torah? I've heard that it makes the rounds, which is great with me, because this is an important part of my teaching Torah these days. I am just curious to see where, and if possibly they'd be interested in other things that I write.
Thanks,
Chaim Flom
