ASHES IN THE INCENSE POT

To explain the case of the Gemara about an incence-burning-pot that have both wood and ash in it that you may move, we already brought the explanation of most Rishonim that the wood is Muktza and the ash is Heter, since they can be used for covering spit. The Rosh quotes the Ramban, that both the wood and ash were Muktza, but they're both insignificant and are Batul to the pot they're in. The Rambam says that the Heter of moving it is bec… Continue

Even though we usually do not hold of the Muktza Nolad, this is only where certain changes happen to an object. Then we still say it keeps it's original status of Heter. But by making ashes, which is a

BOSIS FOR BOTH HETER AND ISSUR

If an object is a base for Muktza and Heter, it doesn't have the status of Bosis. We see this in the Gemara about an incence-burning-pot that have both wood (Muktza) and ash (Heter, since they can be used for covering spit) is not Bosis and you may move it as is. The Rosh asks why don't you need to spill out the contents and gather the ash by itself to move it (like we say by the rock in the basket of fruit, that you need to dump out the co… Continue
